RSS is there a way to get a game save back after making a new emunand?

i did some very stupid things, which resulted in me making a new emunand and losing all my progress on games i had on the old emunand

question is, does it make sense to try putting the sd card in software such as recuva to try and restore the save?
are emunand saves even stored on the sd card?
