RSS If I buy a hardware, do I own the software on it?

I was always wondering about this. And here is a nice example. If I buy a Switch, do I own any software side of the device or just the hardware? How does the ownership and IP stuff work in this case? I can't really find anything about this (or I am just bad at searching at this point). Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a bad place for this thread.
