My 2015 Maserati Ghibli has been a bit of a diva since I bought it but I've put up with the squeaky interior and the occasional infotainment freeze because that exhaust note just makes up for everything, only now it's developed a really harsh bang when it downshifts into second gear while I'm slowing down for the lights near Al Majaz and I can actually feel it through the whole chassis which can't be good for the driveline or my blood pressure. I called the main dealer in Dubai just to get an idea and they immediately started talking about a mechatronic unit replacement and a figure that made me almost drop my phone, and I'm just not willing to sink that kind of cash into a nearly ten year old Italian sedan even if it does sound like a mini Ferrari when I floor it on the open road. A friend of a friend who runs a small garage in Industrial Area told me there's a place that does Maserati Gearbox Repair Sharjah and they actually take the time to rebuild the valve body and test the solenoids on a bench rather than just throwing the whole unit away and ordering a new one from Modena which takes three months anyway. I'm just trying to find out if anyone on this forum has actually trusted a local specialist with their Ghibli or Quattroporte transmission and whether the fix actually holds up in our heat or if I'm just better off cutting my losses and trading it in for something Japanese that doesn't treat its gearbox like a temperamental piece of art.
