OK I just had the stomach dropping feeling of accidentally pushing OK when the switch asked me if I wanted to update. I had not intention of doing it, my finger (or mind?) slipped.
Sure enough, it updated and rebooted. At that point I was 100% sure I was 100% boned.
And to make sure I was not disappointed, the switch chose that moment to display an unhappy red "unable to apply sig" or something along those lines.
My only working option was to cry, uh, I mean, boot back in to hekate....
