RSS Is the Switch's eMMC prone to failure like previous Nintendo consoles?

I really only use my eMMC for saves, but should I to an emuMMC instead to prevent wear on the eMMC?

And have there been any reports of the eMMC dying due to wear and tear? Would the console refuse to boot in this state or instead become read-only?
