RSS Is it not possible to use the Joy Cons when we have flight mode enabled?

This might be a stupid question, sorry about this; but is it really not possible to use the Joy Cons wirelessly when flight mode is enabled?

I always get this pop-up:

And I can't seem to sync them at all... :/

The only reason I want flight mode to be enabled is because I don't want to risk to update my Switch.. I also don't want to install 90DNS or incognito. Just good ole' flight mode.
