A judge has issued a temporary block on the Pentagon’s Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud contract following a lawsuit from Amazon. President Trump said in July that he was looking into the contract following complaints about the bidding process, and the contract was awarded to Microsoft in October.
Amazon has claimed that it lost out on the $10 billion contract because of Trump’s personal animosity toward Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and The Washington Post, which Bezos owns. Amazon argued that the process of granting the contract had “clear deficiencies, errors and unmistakable bias.”
The winner of the contract will build the DoD JEDI, which will overhaul the agency’s cloud services.
